Founded in 1971, the University of Kassel is the newest university in the state of Hessen. Current enrollment is approximately 23,000 students. The school itself is known to have one of the most attractive campuses in all of Germany as many of the buildings of Kassel are in fact castles. Teaching styles at the university are characterized by close contact between students and teachers as well as practical applications of classroom material. Other attractive features of the University include its abundance of student hostels and cafeterias.

The course offers participants the opportunity to prepare themselves for the upcoming semester at the University of Kassel, to find out about student life in Germany and to get to know interesting people. The course comprises 40 lessons, each 45 minutes long. The course focuses mainly on the improvement of general communication skills. The course offers intensive training in listening, reading, speaking and writing. Particular attention is given to the language skills that are needed in everyday life. Practice in areas of language relevant to university studies also forms part of the course. Other courses available are ideal for Economic, Mathematic, Computer Science and Engineering Majors.
