About the University:
With around 10,300 students Swansea University is substantial enough to have excellent facilities, but small enough to have a friendly feel. The university occupies a modern and compact campus. All undergraduate teaching takes place at the Singleton Park campus, where the administrative, academic, social, and some residential buildings are conveniently grouped together. Most buildings overlook the beautiful Swansea Bay. The university is a short distance from both downtown Swansea and the scenic Gower Peninsula, a national park and area of outstanding natural beauty. Swansea University participants may join more than 120 student-run clubs and societies. These societies cover hobbies, pastimes, political and religious interests, as well as serve social and entertainment functions. Membership in these organizations provides an excellent opportunity for participants to meet and make friends with British students with similar interests. Additionally, the student union offers trips in the surrounding areas and Europe throughout the semester.
About the City:
Swansea University is located on Swansea Bay on the edge of the Gower Peninsula, Britain's first 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'. As Wales' second city, Swansea enjoys a full range of social, cultural and sporting amenities and excellent transport links: London is 192 miles away, under three hours by train, and Cardiff, the capital of Wales, is less than an hour away. From the campus you can travel along the sea front to the Marina and the city center, or to the vibrant old fishing village of Mumbles. Situated between the lively modern city of Swansea and the unspoiled beaches of the Gower Peninsula the location is unparalleled. The Gower ends at thespectacular three-mile beach of Rhosili, which is a haven for surfers. The south coast also attracts walkers, wind surfers, rock climbers and hang-gliding enthusiasts. The area also provides a natural field laboratory for the University, and field trips to the peninsula are part of life for
