As a cultural destination, Galway offers several festivals throughout the year including the Cúirt International Festival of literature, the Galway Arts festival and of course the annual Oyster festival. As a city, Galway is young at heart with a student population making up 20% of the city. Galway hosts an abundance of entertainment sources ranging from its world reknown theatre companies to its highly competitive rugby teams. For those who enjoy escaping the city from time to time to enjoy Ireland's natural beauty, Galway is a stones throw away from the Irish seaside, mountains and lake filled region of Connemara as well as the beautifully limestone rich country side known as "the burren."
